The Fond du Lac neighborhood in Duluth, MN is a great place to visit. Areas around Fond du Lac and throughout Duluth, like Spirit Island, have a lot of historical significance for the people in this area.

Fond du Lac is most well known for the two treaties signed in the area in the early to mid 1800's between the US Government and the Ojibwe. One of the treaties established an Indian reservation west of the area that covers almost 154 square miles. If you are in the area, stop by their cultural museum near Cloquet. The Fon du Lac tribe operates two great casinos that you can visit. The first is the Black Bear Casino and Hotel, which is located on the reservation, and the second Is the Fond du Luth Casino in Duluth, which shares profits with the city.

While visiting the Fond du Lac area, you can stay in one of the traditional Duluth hotels or instead opt to camp at the Fond du Lac Campgrounds. For a very small fee, you can rent a spot on the lake, hike through the woods, launch your boat from your own doc, and fish between the islands. In Duluth, Fond du Lac is one of the most natural places to visit.
