Grandma's Marathon Lodging

Grandma's Marathon the most popular marathon in the Midwest. Training may begin in the dead of winter but the 26.2 mile race takes place in the month of June. Starting on Old Highway 61 outside of Two Harbors, races head to the finish line at Duluth's Canal Park during their three+ hour trek. Many of the 9500 racers are understandably exhausted after the race and head back to their hotel or home.

Conventional Lodging
There are approximately fifteen hotels near the start of the race at Two Harbors and twice that in the vicinity of the finish line. Many hotels offer vacation packages and special rates during the week of Grandma's Marathon. Some hotels along the race course allow enthusiastic spectators and entertainers to set up in front of their property to cheer on the racers.

About half of the hotels at either end of the race offer access to an on-site swimming pool and nearly all offer in-room coffee makers. Most hotels are also a shuttle bus stop for race day transportation.

Unconventional Lodging
Campsites offer the perfect low-cost place to rest before and after Grandma's Marathon. There are about a dozen campsites split between the finish and start areas. If you are a runner, consider taking a moment to look for one of the campsites that offer showers.

Another unconventional but reasonably priced lodging option for Grandma's Marathon is the nearby university dormitories. Since school is out during summer and very few students remain on campus, two of the area universities.
