Morgan Park was originally settled by workers of the US Steel Corporation that came to the area in the early 1900's. The area is somewhat isolated, with the railroad bordering one side, the lake on the other. Sports Morgan Park is home to one of Duluth's 22 community recreation centers. The Morgan Park Community Recreation Center, located on 88th Avenue, offers organized sports programs for children and adults during the spring and summer, as well as open facilities during fall and winter. An outdoor playground, basketball court, ice skating rink, separate ice hockey rink, in-line skating facilities, bocce ball field and horseshoe pits are some of the amenities offered. Sports, fitness, arts and educational classes are offered as well. Schools Elementary school students are bussed to nearby Smithville for their education, while area middle schoolers attend Morgan Park Middle School. High school students attend Denfeld High School. Nearby private schools include St. Elizabeth's Christian Education Center and St. Rose School. Real Estate The Morgan Park real estate market has been on a steady but slow rise for the past year. Home prices are in the $105,000 range, about half of the Duluth average.
